Lecture Description

The geography and the people of St. Bernard Parish played a large role in the Battle.  Several plantations served as the setting of the series of battles leading up to January 8th.    The Third Regiment of the Louisiana Militia which fought in the Battle of New Orleans included the Islenos in its membership, and most of this regiment was taken prisoner during the December 23rd Night Battle.
